Make sure you do pay attention to road signs and other written messages that guide you. In fact, really stop and think about the direction you are taking from every message you receive. Are you living life on purpose or auto-pilot?
The kind of signs that I am talking about are the subtle things that happen, letting us know what we need to hear or action we need to take. But we often fail to recognize them. They may be voices in your head, they may be the little things that happen, some we consider irritating so we get frustrated and anger, rather than simply asking “What is this trying to tell me?”
I traveled to my sister’s wedding recently in North Carolina with my mother and sister. Due to my surgery I am unable to lift anything over 10 pounds during my recovery. So, my sister had to manage all the luggage and take care of me and my mom. But I still wanted my computer which when placed in a travel bag with other work, is too heavy also. We had to rearrange things so she could carry it all. Upon beginning our journey through the airports, I received a call from my assistant. Only to realize I had left the one notebook I needed to do my work back in the car, rendering the computer next to useless. That was the second sign that there was no need to drag my heavy laptop along with us.
Because really, who gets work done during 4 days of festivities celebrating their sisters wedding? No one whose passion is family!! But instead of recognizing the signs and having faith in the message, I made more poor sister drag my computer around all weekend.
Think about, and watch for the signs in your life. Live life on purpose and with faith that your decisions will produce the desired outcome.
